I got back from Berlin after a tour around Spandau which takes place annually around 21st of Februrary called Weltgästefühertag when I stumbled on a guy at the Berlin central station. He is Venezuelan who is working in Spain, and this is the first time he visits Germany. Well, the first time visiting Germany and he was greeted with a 20 minutes train delay (welcome to Germany lolllll). He doesn't speak English, nor German, and he didn't understand the announcement, and his ticket's journey was messed up thanks to the delay. Therefore I talked with him in my broken Spanish that I've been crammed for a month now, and tried to help him as much as possible.
Well long story short, I started to focus on my Spanish after my tour to Thailand, in which I met so many Spaniards that it makes me want to speak the language to talk and have fun and make more friends. And this encounter is like a 'surprised test' to test my Spanish till now.
Turns out it's worse than I expected.
I spoke something, and then messed up the conjugation, quierer, oh no quiere ahhh ehmmm quero... QUIERO! (I can), and then forgot what I wanted to say.
And then sometimes I asked him to starts the conversation like how long are you gonna stay in Germany, how is Venezuela, and then he talked with so much enthusiasm and I understood nothing and I just smiled... like this...
But when he talked slowly, and I gathered myself and the conversation seemed to be smoother. Haha, one-month of Spanish cramming still pays off tho, and I pass the test with average score!!!
So, thanks to the 20-minute delay by DB, we couldn't catch the train back to Leipzig as scheduled, and were supposed to wait for another hour. But LUCKILY, (or unluckily, depends on which train you take after HAHAHA), the train we were on arrived at the transit station yet another 20 minutes later than expected, so the we only had to wait half an hour. But we had fun talking with each other and while I had a chance to practice my Spanish, he was able to go home!
If I hadn't learnt Spanish, this would have had not even been possible! This incident makes me even more eager to learn Spanish!
